It has been observed that, for various reasons, braking \nsystems have lost during the last years some balance characteristics \nthey had already reached in the past, reasons such as: speed performance\n upgrades; spending review trend of the manufacturers; the arrival of \nsynthetic materials. Here lies our ambition of inventing a double \nfunction device that could, on one hand, reduce the heat radiation \ncoming from the pads towards clamp and oil, while on the other one, \ngenerate a cooling for the pad in order to avoid sustained critical \ntemperatures.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003eThus, we have made special Hybrid \nPads composed of two parts: one produced with special thermal steel, the\n other consisting in a light-weight alloy with an high thermal-exchange \nrate.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003eThe project have been carried out \nafter one year of testing and comparisons done right on track before the\n release of the final version.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3 class=\"page-subheading\" align=\"center\"\u003eThe Project\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003eOur heat sinks have been designed \nusing two different metal elements to optimize the thermal insulation of\n the brake pad by the caliper and the cooling thereof.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003eThe main body of our heat sink is \nmade of a special thermal steel with a high degree of heat conductivity.\n The material is first laser cut and then CNC machined in our workshops,\n the slots have two purposes, the first to reduce the contact surface, \nthe second to release the hot air formed inside the brake piston cavity \nby reducing the hot chamber effect, and the propagation of heat in the \npiston and oil. The main body of the steel sink is connected to a light \nalloy heatsink made of a special aluminum with high thermal \nconductivity, which has the task of assisting the process of heat \ndissipation.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003eOur tests have shown a reduction in\n the temperature of the brake pad to a maximum of 20 degrees, and a \nsubstantial improvement in braking, an incredible stability at braking \nstart, an optimum rollback value of the brake pads resulting in a hot \nfree wheel. In addition, the brake pads have shown to have a longer life\n of 25% due to a less temperature burdensome usage.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003eThe project has been developed for \nmore than a year and during this time we have used different \nmotorcycles, and always getting the same result.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3 class=\"page-subheading\" align=\"center\"\u003eThe Development\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp class=\"bottom-indent txttermpriv\" align=\"center\"\u003eThe development of the project \nlasted one year, we started with the choice of materials and their \nproduction process. Various configurations and different materials \nprocessing have been tried, we have used data acquisition tools and \nspecial heat cameras for the view of heat propagation by examining \ndifferent points of the brake caliper and brake pad.
